My New Tattoo

I kid.  I actually got very lucky that the above 'mark' is all I managed to get.  I was pitching BP, yes from behind a screen, from about 10 feet away.  I swear I tried to keep all my body parts behind the screen, really.  Down to my last batter - of course - and she blasts a line drive right into my elbow.  The pain was sharp and I could taste metal in my mouth and my first thought was, 'my elbow is shattered'.  I couldn't move it on its own, so I used my only good arm to work out the pain.  It moved ok so I just hopped back in there and finished pitching.  Yes, she hit well :-).  I must say I was certain I would have a huge egg on my elbow and that the pain would be excruciating.  It's  neither.  But I sure have a nice temporary tattoo.

Rained Out

Our tourney this past weekend got rained out, something that has been a bit of a rarity of late in NorCal.  But it does happen.  The Thunder gals wouldn't let a little water get in their way and they took to the hills ... for a team hike: players, coaches, parents, puppies, all were welcome.  We had a blast, so much so we are planning more team hikes this winter.

Coming Along Nicely

The girls have gotten their feet wet and have settled in.  It is nice to see how resilient this group of young ladies can be.  They have played teams comprised wholly of high school girls and have battled ... and won - they have been in every game - despite being an even mix of 7th and 8th graders.  They have come in 2nd place at the PGF tournament in Martinez.  And they are working hard and will certainly be ready to make a run come spring.

I could not be more proud of the NorCal Thunder 14u girls.  We have 3 more tournaments this fall.  Stay tuned.

Party Time Thunder Style

Well, we had a couple of birthdays this past weekend and we decided a party was in order.  Thanks to our gracious sponsor LINEDRIVE, the above came to fruition.  The girls had pizza, played ping pong, shot hoops, hit in the batting cages, ate cake and then it got ugly.......Dodgeball........and for some reason the girls targeted coach like a school of Piranha and pelted him relentlessly.  Paybacks right?  Oh, kickball happened, too.

And then it was time to bust out the sleeping bags and, drum roll please, movie time and sleepover.

What a fabulous night.  A good time was had by all.  And if the girls have their way, this type of event will occur frequently.  I agree.

We are family and it takes every member to be successful.
